Our subscription is monthly. What you receive, depends upon which subscription you choose. (See Below).

Approximately twice each month you or the reader(s) you specify will receive a beautifully written and illustrated mailer that includes a personalized letter, and a chapter of the story (usually between 10 and 15 pages), a unique piece of story art, a coloring plate, and a collectible questing card unique for each mailing. This card is the gateway to participate in our one-of-a-kind questing program.

The subscription continues for as long as you are enjoying the service. The story covers a series called collectively “The Chronicles of Liberty Reef.”

Each mailing comes with a letter addressed personally to the reader using the name provide. After we receive your subscription we will send you an introductory email. You respond with key information about the reader. Using the information you provide letter accompanying each chapter is personalized based on the age and details provided at the time of subscription.
This helps us tailor the experience to make it personal, age-appropriate and engaging for each reader.

You can subscribe for one reader, multiple readers, or even an entire household. We offer individual subscriptions and a family plan.

Our story is suitable for young readers beginning at about ages 4 (as a read out loud, that can be discussed and enjoyed together), and as a self-read for older readers. Even older readers including adults who love the genre will find the story compelling and enjoyable.
We adjust the language of the personalized letters based on the age of the reader to ensure an enjoyable and appropriate experience. The questing activities include options for young and old.

After you subscribe, we mail out our first introductory letter. All mailing is done by USPS. After that letters are mailed out every two weeks and should arrive within a few days for domestic shipping. For international shipping, delivery times may vary.

We accept all major credit cards. Payment is processed monthly beginning at the time of subscription.

One of the unique features of our subscriptions is the interactive nature of the story. Each mailing comes with a unique quest invitation extended by a collectible quest card.
The quest card has a unique design related to the chapter content, and the back of the card has a unique QR code that can be scanned with a phone, tablet or computer.

You can print the quest and quest material if you’d like. These quests provide an interactive element, allowing readers to engage more deeply with the story and sharpen their problem-solving skills. The quests also allow readers to earn quest points, acknowledgments and rewards, and to interact with other questing readers and families. Questing readers can even find their results on our Liberty Reef leaderboards.

Yes, we offer gift subscriptions! When you subscribe select the quantity for the number of readers (one or more), and when you receive our welcome email reply with details for each reader.
You can decide whether you want to be mentioned as the gift giver in the introductory letter. We’ll take care of the rest. In addition, we offer both individual subscriptions and subscriptions for the entire family.

“Ricky and the Phoenix: The Secret of Liberty Reef” is the first part in a three-part series called The Chronicles of Liberty Reef. The story follows Ricky, a young boy who stumbles upon a magical realm called Liberty Reef, hidden behind a curious door in his school playground. The story begins when Ricky is about 5 years old and follows him through adolescence and in later parts into adulthood with his own family.
Guided at key junctures in his life by a mythical phoenix named Raukey, who occasionally transforms into a wise, grandfatherly figure, Ricky navigates real-life challenges and embarks on fantastical quests.

Ricky has to make decisions about peer pressure, family difficulties, and other coming of age experiences. Through many visits to the mythical Liberty Reef, Ricky experiences a fantastic tale involving wonderful creatures such as transforming lions and talking fish in a curious aquarium that enables the “watchers of the reef” to see events unfolding in our “real” world. The narrative is rich with family-friendly content that naturally imparts strong moral values and key life principles.

One of the unique features of the story is that each letter accompanying our mailing is personalized to the reader’s age and details provided at the time of subscription.

The wonderful thing about this approach is that the same story is told to a six-year-old or a sixteen-year-old. Thus, whether the story is a read-aloud experience for a small child, or a private experience for an adolescent, timeless lessons and life principles shine through.

In addition each mailing comes with a quest that enables the reader to participate as the story develops and reveals more of this enchanting world.
